(Just a little story that will make you smile ^.^)
Baking cupcakes probably doesn’t sound too exciting to most people but for me and two of my friends it was quite a challenge! We had never done it before and one sunny Friday afternoon we decided we wanted to bake cupcakes. Once we arrived at the supermarket we faced our first challenge; what do we need to buy to make cupcakes? Well I guess it was our lucky day because (go figure) a nice little old lady explained us what we needed to do to make cupcakes. Guess what else she said? “Don’t you young people have the internets to figure it out?” (yes she said internetSSSS).
We overcame our first challenge and were ready to face the second one. This time we did use internet. We tried finding a mixer; we found one. To be fair it should’ve been an archeological discovery, that’s how ancient this thing was. Once it surpassed some of our small tasks we figured it would be ready for the biggest task of all. So we had our ingredients, a bowl, cupcake shapes and the mixer (and a working oven) so time to get started!
What follows is a quick to-do list on how to make the dough:
* make the butter softer = ignore microwave and put butter in the sun
* realize there is a microwave to melt butter in
* put butter in plastic bowl and put in microwave
* scream and realize the bowl is melting
* Start laughing/crying hysterically and send one of your friends to get a new bowl and some butter
*This time melt butter on a plate
* Put all ingredients in bowl
* Add 500ml instead of 50ml water
* Add more ingredients to make up for mistake
Ok. Now it was time for the mixer to prove its worth. Me and Rosalie positioned ourselves behind Chantal and saw her start the mixer. What happened exactly is still a bit blurry but one moment we were all laughing and smiling and being happy that it was working and the next moment there was a loud BANG and then there was dough all over the table, walls, windows and us. I think we must’ve been standing there, dazed, for about 5 minutes before we realized we had to clean this shit up and FAST. So we did.
Since we’re no quitters we did make our cupcakes with the dough that was left after the explosion and we still managed to make some delicious cupcakes (despite the fact that they we’re gigantic because we underestimated how much they would rise in the oven). I do believe that was the first and last time we’ve ever tried to make cupcakes… Maybe we should try again sometime soon?
